Mabon

I love autumn.

I am sure I have said this many times before, but it is by far my favourite season and tops my favourite time of year.

The trees have started to slowly change colour and shed their leaves. The sun is starting to rise slower and shines much brighter in the morning. The evenings have turn crisp and cool, the skies clear and the stars shining bright and strong.

The magic and wonder of Mother Nature is alive with activity as she prepares for a great winters sleep. Now is the time she gives to us her great bounty, the fruits of all her hard spring and summer labours.
I love this moment in time. Where day and night stand equal. The sounds and smells, the offerings and gatherings that fall brings to us. From the sound of crisp crunchy leaves to the scurry of squirrels storing their winter meals, I love everything autumn has to offer.

Bright autumn days and hot apple cider on cool fall evenings. Thanksgiving gatherings with family and the excitement of Halloween, when magic is in the air and children are dressed as ghouls and goblins in hopes of scoring some candy corn and chocolate.

Every year I look forward to the same silly Halloween cartoons and movies. Then of course, the trip to the pumpkin patch with family, friends and their children on a search for the perfect carving pumpkin.
This is our chance to reap what we have sown, reflect, give thanks and truly appreciate all that we have been given and all that we have.

I wish you all a merry and bountiful Mabon. May your blessings this season be plentiful.

For the furbabies....

I bought a bird feeder.  I assume it will bring great visual enjoyment for the cats, and perhaps myself as well, as the days grow warm. At least I know they will have something to look at out the window while I am at work, making money of course to pay for their house they so kindly let me live in, treats, small catnip stuffed rodents and the million other things spoiled well loved kitties come with.

October.

I love Autumn. I love the crisp air, the bright clear skies. The sound of the leaves crunching. The trees giving up their summer bounty to the ground. The smell of spices and warmth. The first sip of hot chocolate. Thanksgiving ( I am Canadian) and Halloween. The primer month for holidays to come. I love that i get to wear snugly clothes and fluffy socks. I am sure I could sit here all evening and think of things to describe why this is my favorite month of the year. Not necessarily my favorite time, I like most any holiday, but of course the Christmas season is tops for me. I think I spend the first eight and half months waiting for the end of September, My birthday, October, and December. November to me is the month that is the cross over month. The time you use to get from one great holiday time to the next. When I start my shopping make my list, get my cards ready for mailing, prepare for he winter season, and celebrate the birthdays of friend lucky enough not to have been born during the busy holiday month of December. Because lets face it, even if you are born December first, many still consider it just too close to Christmas. So enjoy October, go head, eat the candy corn.

Happy Autumn!

There is cake in the fridge.

Carrot cake, but cake no less.

Which virtue tells me I am not allowed to eat the cake at 2:00am in the morning.

I am tired and wired all at once. My sleep and wake patterns are counter productive to my life. So sleepy this morning.. had three, yes three shots of espresso in my latte, yawned all morning. Was so sleepy around 8:30. Now, tired, but wide awake.. eyes wide open, like babies in pictures.. you know that surprised wide opened eyed look they get.

Maybe I will read.. reading is good. If nothing else it will pass the time well.

I finally finished!

I was so very pleased. There was concern going in, as I had not been as excited about her last few books as I had been in the beginning. I was worried that this would not do justice to fantasy I had built in my head. 700+ pages and many sleepless nights and I can truly say i am sated, happy, excited ... I will need to get the thesaurus. I wont bother to review the book, that has been done all over. I am just utterly pleased with this installment, and am looking forward to more DH books as well as fining out just a little more about Jaeden. Not to mention what is going to happen with Nick. All I can say is run do not get caught up with the heifer goddess!

Alone.

I love living alone.

While I enjoy the company of others, and at times crave the interaction. I need solitude. I like being by myself to do as I wish, when I want to. Not that I can not do that now. Its just different, when its just you.

Well, me and the fur children. Although the fur children are sometimes demanding. When they both sit and stare at me, following me around to see what I will do next. I wonder, are they looking at me with admiration, or thinking, we could take you down you silly human.

Either way, I know they will stick to admiring glances, as I, with my fancy thumbs, am the only one of us three able to open the cans of food and the patio door.
